Tucked away behind huge palm trees lies this 4* venue at the bubbly beach of Boucan Canot on the west coast of La Réunion. What makes this place so unique however is not only the beautiful sea view but also its extraordinary architecture since the “ Saint Alexis”, named after the ship bringing the first French seafarers to the island, is built like a vessel. First of all the wonderfully large and round pool is placed in the centre of the hotel, the restaurant high above the sea with its wooden beams on the ceiling creating a special romantic flair and last but not least a winding ship staircase recall former seafarer’s times. The 60 accommodations with their own generously sized balconies and terraces feature different categories -from standard and luxury rooms to junior suites and suites – all designed in the local style and providing a jacuzzi. Guests of a pool room may enjoy a quick refreshing plunge before breakfast. Heart of the hotel however is the Creole bar serving a divine “Rum arrangé” and delicious sundowner cocktails. The adjoining garden restaurant offers little delicacies, the roof terrace with its fantastic sea view is the perfect spot for breakfast and the two restaurants in the upper floor create gourmet cuisine.
The golfing guest may relax after the game under the palm trees in the garden, at the beach or at the pool, alternatively do some workout in the fitness room with sauna or get some tips about other activities on the island from the very efficient German Hotel Director Inge Meitinger.
Next year the “Saint Alexis” will present its new spa, located in its own villa surrounded by palm trees. Thereafter a new area in paradise will begin.
